As it turns out, Val did not dodge the power gremlins. As of 4:30, it's out until at least midnight tomorrow.

There is some kind of curse on Haiti...that country can't catch a break ever. It is very sad.

Sis only lost power for 12 hours. They were really lucky. The storm was not as bad as originally feared there because the eye remained offshore.

Both sis and Val had lots of cleanup. Fortunately, there were two young guys in Val's neighborhood who helped her. The neighbors on the marsh ended up with a muddy swamp for a yard, but at least the houses seemed to be OK.

Val says although their cleanup is progressing OK, south of her in Georgetown is a real mess. No electricity until perhaps Fri down there.

Ironically, although Lumberton and Fayetteville NC are fairly far inland, they were perhaps the hardest hit areas of all. The pics are bad. Houses have water up to their roofs.
