Default Mighty preparations...

Sunday was spent changing out the broken door lock. The I spent time cleaning the interior and treating the leather. the exterior will be filthy by the time I ge to Gettysburg, but I may give it a wash tomorrow anyway. Tonight I changed the oil. I have this down to a science now, but I still take my time doing it to avoid spills. I checked all the tire pressures and found them all down by 4 or 5 pounds. The compressor was fired up and I filled the tires of the S and the rest of the fleet too. (have to remember to check the spare tomorrow. this is critical people-check the spare!) Filled the the washer fluid bottle, checked the clutch and brake fluid ( really need to change them this fall, they are getting very dark!). The radiator is topped off and I think I am good mechanically. I'll bring a small tool roll, an extra quart of oil and a can of fix a flat. I have maps, a mapquest route, and the new GPS ready to go.

Tomorrow I'll tend to my parts list and preperations for the Hershey flea market. I have high hopes for a successful search. I will call the restaurant, make a reservation in some town in eastern PA for Thursday night, go over my bag of clothes to try not to forget anything...

I love getting ready for the meets. It is the preperation for an adventure. Unlike air travel or train travel, the road trip is itself a key part of the experience.

How do you prepare to meet the road?

Well, I washed the Perkymobile last Sat, so the exterior is ready. Will do a quick wipe of the interior Thurs evening, and also check/add fluids and tire pressure. That's about it. Except for getting meet info, radios and clothes together. Should be a fun ride up on George's (gfacter's) recommended route.

Pretty much the same as you. Rick brought the S to work and had the oil changed. A bit easier than your method.

Tonight I'll lay out a bunch of clothing on the guest bed to pack. I'll then decide I don't need it all, but I'll pack it all anyway.

We have a reservation in NY for Thursday night. We have AAA maps, mapquest maps, and pas2knut with his GPS will be leading us down from NY on Friday.

The cat sitter is arranged. A few other tasks around here and we'll be on the road tomorrow evening around 6:00 PM

My '06 tells me when its time to change the oil and it says its not time yet. So, I'll check tire pressure, fluids, etc. and since the baby is clean and in the garage, all I have to do is pack. I'll try to do that tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll be running around in the wee hours of Friday morning wringing my hands wondering how to get more stuff in the car.

I just heard back from the organizers of the Hershey event and they confirmed the existance of vendors of British car parts at the show. I am very excited about that aspect of this trip. I will therefore try to pack light to leave the maximium rood for old car parts.

I gave her a wash, checked fluids, gave her a can ot Techron, and corrected the tire pressures. I'll save the oil change until I get back. She'll be hitting the garage for the winter soon. When the weather gets cool, tire pressures go down about 15%, supposedly because the CO2 leaches out of the tires. Ready to go. I'm hearing some rain for friday at least.

Bill: The dark clutch fluid is pretty common and normal. Happens to some of my motorcycles very quickly. The darkening is caused by heat exposure. According to cycle mechanics it is not a problem and sticking to recommended fluid changing cycles is the way to go. Hardtopguy probably could lend some expert comments/recommendations.

Oooooh nooooo! He's really coming.

That's too funny, Jumpster. I'm hoping I don't have to make a late Friday night run up the road just to see what y'all are up to. Like Lainey, I hate y'all having fun without me.

As for preparations, my dead brother is taking care of everything for me today so I should be good to go.
