Mileage is now my main driving goal: 52 mpg!

When the gas crunch came in the 1970's several of my co-workers who had new large luxury cars traded them in at a major loss to purchase Toyota's and other small cars that were selling at a premium. I've also noticed gas prices climb. It's 0.60 cents a gallon more for premium and I have two cars that use it. Fortunately, I don't drive them that often, so it doesn't impact me much. The Accord is still getting 30 MPG or greater with mixed driving. I typically set my cruise at 75 when I drive the freeways. If I drove 65, I expect I'd be getting somewhere around 35 MPG. New cars are fine The main reason I'd buy one is for safety.

Regular gas in Columbus OH just jumped up to $2.99 per gallon for regular and $3.59 for premium. GasBuddy says that in my old neighborhood in San Francisco, regular is $3.89 per gallon for regular and $4.09 for premium.
I coasted as much as possible driving through Columbus today to work (no freeway driving). My mileage gauge said that I was averaging 66.9 mpg!

Regular is $3.10 here; still a good deal in my mind.
