Yeah, I've become quite the homebody over the last several years. We've found that for anything more than a long weekend the S is just not practical for trips - unless you buy stuff when you get there then abandon it.
You need to go to the Lainey school of S2000 on road trips. If the clothing is all casual and you find a mid week hotel with laundry facilities, squish the stuff in a duffel bag and hit the road.

Whew! I can't read too good anymore and thought YOU were turning 50 and that I was really getting old. And if you come back with a "you ARE really getting old, granny", you're dead meat you lil'' whippersnapper.
Err...uhh...I'm 52.
Not that it implies anything with regard to your age.

I'm not allowed to do laundry and Barb has a very precise definition of vacation.
I have seen some nifty suitcase racks for the S trunk lid -- a la British sports cars.
Otherwise here is a neat solution:
I remember seeing Chris with the suitcase on her lap and thinking that you, Jim, must take a lot of crap on your road trips to make her need to hold her suitcase to the airport. Then, I learned from experience that you're lucky if that works, and you can get your honey to the airport with just their suitcase on their lap. I put my laptop and pillow behind the seats when I took Jerry to the Pittsburgh airport after Spring Fling in May.
