Plus, I love the song, ' Moon River"!
Somehow, when I hear the words "Moon River" they always segue into "He's the man, the man with the Midas Touch -- a spider's touch"

That's a beautiful area. When I was a kid, we did several car-camping vacations in Algonquin Park just east of there (at Lake Opeongo -- I just love saying that) with a canoe. But the river looks even better. HPH

And Jonas, are you sporting a mustache or am I having a senior moment?
Vacations like this don't leave you with the luxury of shaving every day. At the time of that picture, you can't yet really see the goatee that went with it. However, I haven't shaved it yet, either. That will wait until we get back from the next vacation at the end of the month.

Virginija and Anika both suggested I keep it for a while, just for a change of pace.

Beautiful pics, Jonas. Beautiful family vacation.

Now that I've seen the luxurious "facilities" I think camping will be on my "to do" list.

Great pictures and captions.

Did you ever tip the canoe? Clearly you had a nice camera along; how did you protect it from the elements - like tipping over?

Like you, we use to camp and canoe - although with a gang of folks - annually. But, those days are over for us. Great reminder of what the good times were like. I didn't see any pictures of rain, mud, soaked clothing, sand, etc. Having caught and tasted all the fish mentioned, I can appreciate how sweet they are fresh out of the water.

As the others mentioned, thanks for a great post.

Many years ago I took a fishing trip to Burntwood Lake in northern Manitoba. I caught both pike and walleye -- one of them would cover itself with slime when you took it out of the water, but I can't remember which? Just idle curiosity if anyone knows. I can't remember if we cooked both, but whatever it was delicious!

Your pictures are beautiful. I'm not much into the idea of camping any more -- too accustomed to creature comforts like real beds -- but would love to see that scenery!

Pike are a bit slimmy and nasty teeth! They have Y backbone and it takes a little knowlege and practice to carve out the fillets but they are great tasting.

Thanks for the mental jog. thankfully the folks that ran the lodge where I stayed did the cleaning and cooking of the catch(es). it was hard enough for me to touch those slimy things to get them off my line!
