I felt a little bad about his demise until I read the nasty germs these things can carry.
yup hanta is nasty
It doesn't look that that disease is common in our area, and it also appears these guys aren't the typical mice that make their way into the home, but dead is still good.

I probably need to re-consider some of my bird feeding, or get some catch trays for the seeds. In the winter months, I toss seed on the ground for the ground feeders, I'm sure the mice enjoy it too.

I trapped a couple of moles in the garage this winter. I wonder if that means the tunneling in the yard will slow down next summer?

Dave, me neither!
But I did have visitor a few nights ago, that left lots of prints. Last night I put out corn, sunflower seeds and halved clementines but no takers.

Maybe they weren't moles but they were little pig-snouted critters with funny feet.

A good way to find out the entry point of critters is to spread talc around where you suspect they are and they will leave footprints and you can follow the prints to see where the critter is coming in.

Yep, they are back and they seem to be the ones digging the tunnels in the yard. Rick set a trap with peanut butter, near the tunnel. He put a five gallon pail over it and weighed it down. He just put the trap out a couple days ago and one mole met it's demise today. Two traps set now.

I'm not sure if that's their preferred food, but he's caught them before using peanut butter.
