Since you got the older vaccine fairly recently, you will probably be protected for some time.

I, however, had the original shingles vaccine in 2009, so it is possible that I did not have much protection against shingles anymore from the older vaccine.

Mine is 10 years old as well, so they claim its lost it value.

Not that the arm wasn't red and swollen, it was. However, I realized that the bull's eye in the middle was actually the scar from the small pox vaccine I got as a kid! We kind of forget about these things from old vaccines.

Lainey, when I saw the photos of your arm, my first thought was a scar from the smallpox vaccine, but I was thinking that the scar (?) on the more upper part of your arm might be from the smallpox vaccine.

I'm sure that many of us know where our smallpox vaccine is. Mine is on the underside of my upper left arm...you know, the flabby part.

I wonder if they administered it correctly. Seems that it should have been on the upper outer part of my arm. Oh well...I guess it is okay, since smallpox had been eradicated long ago.

I'm thinking I was re-vaccinated for smallpox again somewhere around 1967 or so when I took a medical microbiology course in college. I'd have to check those records, but it's not worth the bother of digging them out now.

Sue, the scar on the upper arm is from the shoulder surgery. One of the "access areas" for the arthroscopic surgery.

Sounds good.

I have a friend here in Ohio who just got hers last week at her pharmacy. I think she had been on the waiting list since last summer!

I got the first shot last Friday. Shoulder is still sore. So they have me in the system for the second injection in two months...

That’s great!
But apparently they are still having a hard time meeting demand for the new vaccine. My pharmacy is limiting accessability to 50s plus - vintage folks. (:
