Sunny and chilly in New Jersey this morning. I get to try out my new tires in a few hours.
Carefull Rob!
I just drove into my office, about 9 1/2 miles. Keep the speed under 45 mph. So far the tires feel good.

"Finally, I loaded the wheels and new tires in my BMW to take them to Joyce Honda to have them mounted and balanced. I wish I could do it myself, but without a tire machine it's too difficult."

You let the stealership mount your tires??? The reason I take my wheels to a shop that sells high dollar wheels is they have the tools and knowledge to mount a tire without damaging the wheel. I do not like having the bite marks on the inside of the barrel from clamping the wheel in the tire machine. The wheel shop has hooks that grab the edge of the rim.

I posted some stuff about jacking, torquing lug nuts, tire pressures and such stuff in the Wash and Wax Forum.

"Being the neurotic S2000 owner that I am"...

Key word-- neurotic...

Rob- I might be the next to last person.. I changed to the Dunlop Durezza's on my last tire change - this spring. I've had S-02s since 2002.

I don't know. I've been dealing with Joyce Honda a long time, since 1996. We've bought 8 cars there and I've never had a problem. I get treated with respect and they always seem to do a good job for me.

One time I had trouble with the transmission on my Si with 80,000 miles. The service was a bit beyond the ability of their regular mechanics and it took them two times to get it right, but on the other hand they went to bat with Honda for me and got Honda to pay for half the cost of the repairs.

I know there are a lot of horrible dealers out there, but to me, Joyce Honda is not one of them. I've developed a nice relationship with them over the years and I'll keep going back.

I really liked my SO-2s, but after driving the car today with my new RE-11A tires I don't know what took me so long to make the change. I didn't push the car hard, I want to break in the tires slowly so I keep my speed to 50 mph or less, but I took the twisty back roads home from my office today. I found the steering to be very responsive and precise. On a sweeping turn the car felt like it was glued to the road. I'm happy with these tires so far.

OK. Maybe I'm a little OCD about my wheels. A few years back I had a local tire shop mount some tires on my Pantera and they scratched the paint. OEM Pantera wheels are Campagnolo magnesium wheels. Magnesium oxidizes just being exposed to air. Had to touch up the paint.

I also do not like the way a rattle wrench beats over the corners of the lug nuts. 12 X ,1.5 mm lug nuts should be torqued to 80 ft/lb. Any idea what torque your dealer's rattle wrench is set for?

Next time you have a wheel off, look at the bite marks on the back where it was clamped on the tire machine. There will be four groups that look like 3 punch marks for every time that wheel has been clamped. Even if they are not sharp enough to cut your finger, they will snag your wash mitt.

I don't let the dealer do oil changes either.
