NFL replacement REFs
Yes it is. That's why the issue with the strip shirt guys has not been resolved. The owners and the Commish want to send a message to the players that they can play hard ball when it comes to negotiations. Given that, should the fans really be upset with the temporary ref's. I think not.

Saw a replay of Monday's call - bad call made extremely bad because they let it stand. But, it's only a game.

Good point Dave, but it's still hard to watch. It's like having a finely tuned sports car only to have a hitch on it & a R. V. in tow. It's hard on the car & no fun to drive!
I have come to the realization that the ref's are just like any organizations Quality Assurance/Control department, or even some Gov't departments (FDA, USDA, etc).
They are there to make sure that the product produced is safe (no late hits, no bad food), is in spec (follows the rules, meets label requirements), and can reject material (throw a flag, issue a recall) if it is out of spec.
Guess the NFL's quality Department fell flat on its face this time!

Thursday night game they came in with a standing ovation. It took less than 15 minutes to get a full round of boos for an unsportsman like call. Go figure
