I found a nice kit on Adorama, with the 18-55 plus a 55-200 VR lens,
price is incredible. Thanks for all your help Dave.

We have those lenses on Karen's D50. They are actually quite nice, but still leave her carrying 2 lenses. The 18-200 on my D80 solves that problem. But it was a relatively expensive hunk of glass.

As to Nikon vs Canon, it's all in the "feel", I think. A Canon just feels wierd in my hands, while I can pick up any Nikon made in the last 50 years and start shooting. Folks I know who own and love Canons feel the opposite way.

Both are capable of taking great pictures, limited only by the photographer behind the camera.

Congrats on the purchase! Looking forward to seeing some results.

Thats really the key here, unless your looking for something really specialized in which lies the answer to my camera system of choice
