I've posted a few videos on my Facebook page, of people who have driven through the wildfire to safety. Some are very harrowing.

I texted my friend in Paradise last Thursday. He said he just made it out and houses on his street were burning. Later he told me he lost his home. He did get his truck and trailer out so he has a place to live. Jim and I have been friends since we were 9 years old.

My niece's husband's grandmother is listed on the American Red Cross Safe and Well list, so that is good news!
They have not been able to talk to her yet, but at least they know that she is safe and well.
The grandfather is having a hard time with all of this because the evacuation was so traumatic for him with the hospital burning, the car burning, etc. He still doesn't know that his house is gone.
The family is apply for Medicare emergency coverage for him for 100 days of hospital care.
My nieces and sisters all live within 100 or 200 miles from the fires, and the air quality is very bad there and schools and businesses have been closed.

Just read that the air here in the bay area is so bad it's like smoking 11 cigarettes. I was at the bank this morning and looked over the tellers shoulder out the window. Could not see the foothills only 2 miles away. Reminds me of LA when I was a kid.

Both of my nieces live in the Bay Area and my three sisters live in Davis.
Many schools and businesses have closed because of the poor air quality, and residents are being told to stay inside as much as possible.

My grandson's school in Half Moon Bay was closed today due to poor air quality.

I drove 4 hours north, from Lake Forest, CA to my Kennedy Meadows place on Thursday. I left 24 hours after arriving due to the smoke from the Camp Fire. It wasn't all that bad but enough to make me decide not to ride my ElliptiGO and not make my own campfire, since it already smelled like one. I was stopped for road construction for 28 minutes on my way there yesterday and was pissed that it would make me arrive at dark to set up my 5th wheel But then it was easy to put it in perspective as a minor inconvenience when I thought about people affected by the Camp Fire and the Woolsey Fire, in southern California.

^ I was wondering if your trip would be affected by the fires. Good you left. It is very bad to breathe that smoke.
