I've noticed many of these places do not have A/C, including the cottages at the Ocean View Motel (Right now we may stay there two nights). I'm sure the ocean breezes are lovely, they have ceiling fans but wonder if anyone thinks I'll miss having A/C?

We've switched things around a bit. We may stay in Cheticamp two nights, at the coastal retreat in Ingonosh on our anniversary, on to Sydney for one night, in a hotel, and the last night in Baddeck. I found a motel I thought would be fine, but again no AC. reading some of the reviews for some of the places in Baddeck made me " Old buildings, musty, no better than Motel 6..........."

I realize more people complain vs post good reviews, but since we are not B & B people, I find it's a lot easier to plan a trip when you can just stay in a Hampton Inn.

lainey-

probably 1 in 100 chances that you would wish for a/c....more likely for an extra BLANKET

not being smart, but what can i say? b&b=charm but a little risk; hampton inn=same old/same old and no risk i can't recall seeing ANY chain hotel in all of N.S.....other than perhaps around the Halifax airport

the place that we stayed in Baddeck is part of an upscale ART GALLERY and right on the harbor; at the risk of invoking Gene's wrath, i would say: skip Sydney and stay in Baddeck 2 nights....just b/c it was SO nice.

going to N.S. is taking the 'road less travelled'....but very nice roads

Don't mind the roads less traveled, just like creature comforts at night. I'll trust you on the extra blanket vs the AC. Kind of thought that myself.

We were figuring the stay in Syndey to be closer to the fort in Louisbourg. One thing I don't want to do is travel the same roads just to get back to one hotel/motel.

Here's a little motel in Baddeck...
