I thought cashews were the bomb until I tasted the pecans in the mix. Now I like pecans better. They are a softer nut and kind of smokey.
I like both. Almonds are also good for you. Nuts contain good fat and when a serving about the size of a tin of Altoid mints are consumed daily they are beneficial.

Once upon a time, I used to like to go to 219 King Street in Old Town Alexandria to listen to their piano player that played the old standards. I had a trained cocktail waitress and when they switched from serving smoked almonds to mixed nuts. She would get the can and sort out the almonds and cashews for me (and leave out the peanuts, etc). Tipping well over time does have it's rewards.

Hi Matt

I went to Atlantic City once with a bunch of guys after we were working in Baltimore for 3 weeks, and of course, they wanted to go to the Playboy casino. They had almonds out to eat. I thought that was pretty neat. Yummy.

My Aunt had several large pecan trees in her back yard, and it was always a treat to go there in the fall, pick up a ton of them, husk and roast them and eat them warm. Of course, that ruined me from commercial pecans.

Trader Joes is my best local source for nuts. Have you tried the boiled peanuts? I am also a sucker for the various trail mixes, but will always reach for a handful of unsalted almonds for a heathy snack. I'm going to get some right now.

I have been at the Play Boy Casino in Nassau in Grand Bahama back in 1980 as a "Key Government Witness" in a string of armed robberies. I was the only one that could Identify the gun man after this pair robbed eighteen different groups of people, mostly on the beach and always at night. I was a "guest" of the Bahamian Goverment.

Even though two out my three trips were free (I was robbed at gun point on the first one, and the second two trips where to testify at trials and those trips were paid for by the Bahamian Government. I would never go back there. Have you ever noticed that the vacation packages to the Bahama's are always about half the price of any other Caribean Island? There is a reason. In MY Opinion: the Bahamiians treat tourist badly. I sat for twenty-five minutes in a restaurant before getting a menu. I have waited for twelve minutes at a hotel bar while the Bahama Mama finished her conversation with a friend before turning to me. For this "Lack of Service" the Bahamian Government has tacked on a Mandatory 15% percent gratuity. They may as well call it what it is. A tax.

If you are looking for a great vacation and want to feel welcomed, go to Hawaii.

How about a fresh batch of chocolate chunk cookies, with either walnuts, pecans or macadamia nuts. Perhaps a slice of Pecan pie and a scoop of Butter Pecan ice cream. Nuts, I'm getting hungry!!!.

What kind do you like? I buy the deluxe assortment at Costco but since my favorite is the pecans, I just bought some roasted pecans at Trader Joes. They're tender and tasty.
I'm sure my aunt would be glad to hear that - she owns a 300 acre pecan farm in central Texas.

Mmmm...love nuts, except for hazelnuts. Those don't appeal to me. Cashews, pecans, pistachios - yum...and Fisher makes butter toffee peanuts that are really addictive!

I've gotten those at Trader Joes. I used to munch them while typing on S2ki.
