Watched a sharp-shinned hawk eat a red-bellied woodpecker today. The woodpecker was very much alive as he held him down, pulled off feathers, and had his meal. The cruel side of nature but it still was fascinating since the woodpecker so big and frankly I didn't realize they were on the menu. You have to wonder (I suppose I could look it up) why its called a red-belly since it has a tan belly. (the photos were taken from an earlier time)

The food chain! That's a good sized lunch for the hawk!

^^ Believe me, that thought was in the back of my mind the entire time there. I missed going there in 1970 by the skin of my teeth. (went to So. Korea instead).
We had a great time, starting in Singapore where we got on the ship. Then to Thailand, Cambodia and VN. Highlight was Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Shown in another thread but thought i would show it here too. Had to leave the NE/KS Football Game during commercials and time-outs in order to accomplish it. The "Super Blood Wolf Moon"
