It did happen in... "The 80-proof goof happened early Tuesday at a bottling plant in Dumbarton, where workers were cleaning equipment."

I love beer, bourbon, rum, vodka, even wine but scotch is best going down the drain.

That's a tragedy of horrendous proportion. Good thing I've lately switched over to Japanese Scotch .

Is that the one that comes in a Kimono instead of a box?

Not being a scotch drinker, I cannot relate. I'm sad for those of you who are though.

I am a scotch drinker, when I choose to have a nip. Chivas is not one that I'll miss though. Single malt preferred. This sounds like a problem with labeling valves, job task training, or something more sinister. Not enough safety precautions were in place, or this was a severe violation of policies and procedures.

Couldn't agree more. Will not shed a tear with Chivas going down the drain. Now if it was The Glenlevit or The Macallan I would be wearing a black armband
