I know this regarding my Dad's Service from his obituary. He wrote it himself and was extremely proud of his service.
He should have been proud! The 8th was the key unit in the defeat of the Luftwaffe. The 8th has a great place in the history of the US Air Forces, for sure, and it continues to this day.

I wish I would have paid more attention to his stories of his service, when I was young. It's too late now.

My older brother may remember more....I'm not even sure if the 8th was his unit, or why I ended up with that patch.

My Dad was a Navy Doctor in the Pacific. His stories were always fascinating! Especially the times I asked him why they needed an Obstetrician on a Destroyer Escort!
