Back to the topic at hand...

I would talk to my employer and see if they had any sort of "matching" program for charitable donations. Heck, why not try to double the money going to a good cause if you can, right?

I'd probably take the money to the Farmer's market and see if I could get a good rate on some beanies (caps) and some fruits/vegetables and hand them out to the homeless.

The 'benefactor' in this case has also given up his ability to take this as a tax deduction and in fact has passed that on to the others. They get $50 to donate and a tax deduction if they donate to a legtitimate charity.

The benefactor has probably donated in excess of $750.

I read it to mean that his friend passed out increments of $50 with the challenge that folks use it for the benefit of whomever they wished . . . themselves or anything else and simply chat about it at their next meeting. Excuse me, but I see nothing sinister about that.

There are so many places where $50 could be bring joy or do good.

BTW, I wonder how many people really give as much as they say on their tax returns?

[QUOTE=PokS2k,Dec 11 2006, 08:18 AM] This reminds me of a man who would go to one of the local restaurants and pay peoples bills.
