A question for the shutter bugs
Here's a link to a thread I started in New England. I bought a new 2GB memory card for my camera (which is 4-years old) It is a "Type M" XD picture card. For some reason it's not working with my camera. I think it's because of the type, it is high speed.
Anyway, here's the link (with a bit more detail in that thread) and what folks have suggested so far:
Picture card
If you can add any suggestions, here or there, I'd appreciate it.

Laliney -According to Wikipedia, there are compatability issues with many older Olympus cameras and the M+ card.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XD-Picture_Card
The article says that Olympus has a list of cameras that may have difficulties with the new M+ card somewhere on their site.
Hope this helps!

At least the 'older' cards are available at bargain prices.... and you can probably get a couple hundred photos on that 512 card (lot more than on an old roll of film
)
I had the same problem with an 'hi-capacity' SD card. It worked in my camera.... but my external card reader refused to recognize it. Pain in the neck because I never download directly from the camera... and I really didn't want to buy a new card reader just for that one card.
I also found that the newer 'hi-memory' SD and XD cards are much slower to read than the 1st generation cards. I've got a couple of the 8 gig and 16 gig cards for the SLR, but almost never use them because of the slow read speed (20-30 minutes through a USB2 port for a full 8 gig card!). The point-'n-shoot cameras take a huge number of images with a 512mb card (even the ones that are 6 or 8 megapixel), and the cards are small (and cheap) enough that it isn't a problem to carry a couple of spares.
Looking forward to the Nor'easter!

I got two of them on line for $8.00 each.
Not so easy to come by though. Several places had no stock.
I just set my camera for the best of the best in resolution, so I'm anxious to see how many pics I can get on the card.
Thanks again.
