So what are the re-do plans for the pool area?

New tile, coping, plaster...then around June we're going to have 'SunDek' put over the old pool deck. We also have to stain the fence...funny, I looked into the price of doing that myself, after we buy all the stain (for over 3K sq ft. of fence) it's the same price to hire someone and get a warranty!

I'm trying to talk my +1 into a built in BBQ area, that we'll do ourselves, except for tying into the natural gas line.

Living in Texas having a pool is awesome, it was a must have when we bought the house...getting the pool remodel started has been a Weather delays, supply problems (they ordered the wrong tile first, glad we caught it in time!), etc...but I'm very happy now that it's started.

The best thing I've learned at this point when dealing with a company who has email, do all communication that way...so you have a record of everything they say...I don't even answer the phone when I see it's them calling, just wait for an email!

Sounds great. Be sure to post some pics along the way, as well as after completion. How long do you expect the project to take?

Good luck with the pool renovation. It will be well worth it. We did ours back in 2003 and had the plaster walls sanded down to eliminate those rough spots caused by various chemicals eating into the plaster. The cleaning will take care of all those stains, and recoping the tile should last for many years.
Then in '04 we replaced our heater which was a huge improvement over the one that was installed in 1980! Now we can safely use the small spa without turning into soup. It use to jump to 110 F which is way too hot. Now at least we can effectively control the temperature of both the spa and the pool.
Bottom line we were very pleased with the results.

I will! Hopefully not more than another week or two depending on weather.

Snake, thanks, we're having it sand blasted, the previous home owner painted it a few years ago so we have to sand blast the old paint off.

It's getting me very excited about this summer!

A couple remodeled kitchens, including mine and Dean's, as well as some issues Dave/dlq04 had in dealing with the "big box stores."
We also got Granny's room finished finally - terra cotta colored tiles, white faux tin ceiling, white trim and crown molding, and BRIGHT YELLOW walls. I'll ask Martha to post some pics when she gets back from Houston tomorrow.
I believe she already posted pics of what we've done with the living room. Although, last week I built another cabinet in the wall next to the AV cabinet to hold all our CDs and what few DVDs we own. Martha's planning on making matching stained glass doors for them sometime this Spring.
I think we'll be starting on the Florida/dog room next, but that won't be until after the FF.

Sounds great, Dean. Granny might never leave!
