I put my pc problems aside yesterday to host a Christmas party for the MG club. After a few Old Speckled Hen ale's and more Hen's Tooth ale, no more cares about a sick pc.

It looks as though my Maxtor external back up drive has bit the dust. This is the first time that I have had a drive fail, and until now I had always had good luck with Maxtor drives.

Since I can't make up my mind what I want, I replaced the screaming power unit. Found out what the smell was too. Three caps have burst on the motherboard, so it could die in an hour, a day, a month, or maybe not for year but I can't wait that long............ performance has REALLY slowed even if the howl is gone.

I'm leaning towards a wireless laptop (I know you are thinking.... finally). Of course that's because laptop owners are always buying new since they can not simply upgrade like in a tower.

I plan to check out the look and feel of a Mac. I really like the reliability record of Toshiba for laptops but I've not found the model that had a keyboard that felt right to me. Two previously busted fingers and a thumb that doesn't like to stretch!
