Replacing the old pc and I hate it

I am writing this from "The Bermuda Triangle" for computers. If you are not sure where that is - it's over my house!
Wow, been on the phone with high level Apple support people for 1-1/2 days. The Apple store screwed up my transfer such that in the end I had to reload the Mac HD after many attempts at another way to over come locked folders, etc. This AM we worked on trying to eliminate the thousands of duplicate photos. At one point I had 15k photos. Now I'm down to 10k. But, really I only have 5k. I think the other 5k maybe thumbnails. Not sure if everyone has them, or I'm special.
One support person from Canada was great and really helped sort things out. The Apple store has already contacted me, apologized, and returned my $100 while leaving me on their one-on-one plan. Can't expect more than that unless you have Legal Bill on call.
While it may not sound like it, I am pretty much all set and know way more than I ever wanted to about my Mac.

This is why I just erase and throw away my old computer when I get a new one. "Good bye old crap. time to make new crap."
I've been living with my 27" all-in-one iMac for five weeks now and I thought I would give a final update. I am really happy with it!
However, it did take some definite sorting out to make it user-friendly for me. Here's a little recap:
Screen width - Great for putting two documents side by side to transfer info, reading text, looking at photos, etc.
Screen height - Too high for me, especially since you are constantly using the main menu at it's very top. This wasn't apparent at the store. Arthritis in my neck & shoulders made it even worse. I bought an adjustable desk (used and only $20) and lowered the normal 28" height by 3.5". Problem solved. The top is now at eye level.
Screen glare - With a screen like an iPhone it can be a big issue, especially if you have windows, mirrors, etc. nearby which I do. This wasn't apparent at the store either, which has no windows. I had to try a variety of arrangements in the room to find the one that minimized glare, different screen backgrounds, different lighting, and different screen angles. It's idle if the wall it's facing is dark but in my case I had two 6' mirrors in my model car case plus windows on both the left and right.
Keyboard - Crappy, immediately replaced with a Logitech waive board.
Mouse - Crappy, immediately replaced with a Logitech, which is much faster and much more controllable, just not as pretty.
Pages and Numbers software - I wasted $40 trying out these Mac programs. Bought Office for Mac (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and all was solved for $99. All but a couple of my WordPerfect files that I converted to Word before the computer transfer came through ok. Some with automatic index's, special tables, etc. did not transfer cleanly, but the data did.... just not the same due to features lost.
After initial frustration with how Finder spread sub-folders and documents in column after column style across the screen, I discovered I could change everything to a Windows style list by setting up a main document folder in the Dock and stacking things in List format. Much, much easier to locate quickly.
Same with photos. Initially I hated how they were organized but I discovered I could reorganize everything into folders, etc. so it worked and looked the same as Picasa that I used in the my old system.
The email program and address book works great for my needs.
The overall operating system, i.e. being able to drag anything anywhere really is slick and I love it. Backups, bookmarks, etc. all work with ease. I have not taken advantage yet of any store training but I will before my year's up. I know there are zillions of things this system/apps can do but for now I'm happy to be over the rough spots. Bottom line, I really, really do like it. I didn't take the easy path to get here and I certainly had my share of issues, so it seems, but after working through them all is well.
Thanks for all the advise and help. My wireless printer works great. No desktop tower. However, you can't get along without the power wires - 5 each on two power strips (modem, router, phone, usb hub, lamp, etc.).
Dang, now I can go out and play in the garage again. Got a friend coming over Wed to help me install cruise control on my 52 year old MG.
Got keep up with this new stuff - right.

I chuckle about your monitor height comment, I have me 24" on 6 inch riser to get it tall enough.
I sort of understand your comment about getting the mac display the data the right way.
I grew up on real computers and just have a hard time with the dumbed down mac interfaces.
I really do want to know what happening under the sheets, don't hide it.
