We were with my friend Pete, his wife Maria and his son Forrest from Gainesville. Pete Brock uses the top of their motorhome to take pictures of the start of the race. We talked to John Paul Jr. for about an hour and half after the race started. My brother did the AMG School down in Homestead and John Paul was his Instructor. How was Amelia Island, you know it is the last resort area in the State of Florida. When my wife and I don't go to Destin, and are doing a short weekend, we go to Amelia Island. My old neighbor 's from New Jersey live in Fernandina Beach. I am glad you were able to take some of the warm weather back to Mich., I know you had a difficult winter this year. My parents are in Ohio and they were hit extremely hard this past winter. I go to Petit LeMans every year, not as rowdy as Sebring but great times. If you come to Petit LeMans we are usually parked by the seating area of the backstretch that overlooks the esses. Just look for an Silverstone S2000, several C5s & 1 C4S. We watch the races from Pete's motorhome.
Is Pete Brock any relation to Peter Brock of Daytona Coupe fame?

John Paul Jr. is a damn good driver and no doubt would be fun to meet. I've met a lot of great driver's but my fondest memory was when I was young having lemonade with Graham Hill and his wife Betty at LeMans on their patio a couple day before the 24 hour race. It was the same year he was F1 World Champion.

This was my first time in the Fernandina Beach area. My daughter lives a short 2 blocks off the sandy beach, near Fletcher Aveune. We enjoyed soaking up some of the sun and local spots - like oldest operating tavern in FL. I neve realized hunting shark teeth could keep so many people entertained!

I really like Mid-Ohio and when there I usually sit in the same spot you do; or on the hill at the tight loop (I forget the name). I never made it to an ALMS race at that track; seems I always have a timing conflict. But I've enjoyed CART, vintage, and SCCA runoffs there.

Both BAR driver's complained of brake problems in the post race interviews but didn't say anymore on the topic.

Just finished watching Bahrain for the third time. Guess I'm hoping it would come out different - just once.

As a fan of road racing, I was pleased to hear the IRL's 1st road race was such a success. I only saw the highlights but it sounded like a good one.

Dang, missed it. Between F1 and organizing an autocross, I didn't even realize it was on.

I wonder if there was any S2000 exposure shown on the ESPN broadcast?

Wow - IRL is so completly off my radar I forgot about this. Anyway street races (other than Monaco and Long beach - and I'll admit that's really becaue of the history not actual racing) don't appeal to me as much. It'll be interesting to see them at the Glen (specially as I'm FINALLY going to drive it myself). I'm unfortunately quite bigoted towards the IRL and will find it hard to be a fan, but really like some of the drivers from their CART days - Tony K, Dario F, especially are two of my favorites.

Anyway - there was a Rolex Sports car race from Cali and F1 - and since I was out Axing, they were always going to get the TIVO time over IRL.
