A hybrid Honda sports car would no longer be a sports car.
Just because you want to do something "in the name of humanity" doesn't mean you should destroy the purpose of the S2000, any more than adding two more seats to make it "more practical."
What's next? Hybrid farm tractors? Hybrid bulldozers?

Why do you say that, Palmateer? Electric motors offer good torque for a performance car implementation. If it weren't for the weight, I don't know why there'd be any hesitance to put a hybrid powerplant in a sports car...
Don't forget, your S2000 is a LEV (low emission vehicle). In 1999, that was unheard of for a sports car. Save the planet? A little. I know that helped make me feel good about buying one.

A hybrid S2000? I can't imagine this happening now, but I don't see any reason why it's impossible in the future. For now the additional weight and room for the batteries makes the idea impossible. With improving technology it could happen.
As for hybrid tractors and bulldozers, this is a real issue. Up until a few years ago nobody even thought much about the fuel consumption or pollution given off by this type of equipment and small engined items like lawn mowers, garden tractors, chain saws and the like. A few years ago people began to take notice of this and now I believe there are guidelines for this type of equipment. This type of equipment uses more fuel and creates more pollution than you'd think.

Alright, big guy... If they can give us big HP and improve gas mileage, and reduce weight, that'd be a good move.

Yeah, right. Like the Prius, they could replenish the batteries when they are coasting down steep hills, and the engine would be switched off at each traffic stop.
