[QUOTE=Jet sitter,May 19 2009, 11:28 AM] A 1990 CRX SI with 50,000 miles is worth somewhere between $450 and $900.

It takes 20 years to be eligible to be declared historic. I figure some owners are almost halfway there.
That certainly makes most of the owners historic, but what about their cars?

I'm way over; the car's a little over halfway there. It's running a lot better than I am though.

So that $300 wins you $8700 if unfortunately you get into an accident and your car is totaled. I can think of 2 situations where your car would get totaled easily and you collect. Any frontal impact that sets off the airbags or stolen seats.
Are the airbags that expensive? I'm not concerned about the seats because the car usually spends the night in the garage.

I was actually thinking along these lines recently.
It's not the monetary value that's an issue anymore.
It's that fact that if anything happened to it, it is now ( or will be shortly) irreplaceable.
And the dollar threshold to total is getting lower all of the time.

For me this is the correct car. I'd be very disappointed to have to part with it.

ayep, when combined with the damage that causes them to pop.

and with Jerry the car no matter the value is truly an icon. There has been nothing and there still is nothing on the market that came or comes close for the $.

Remember this is a convertible those are the cars i group it with and sadly it is fast becoming irreplaceable.

Its not what the car is worth its what it is worth to me

Actually when I talked with my insurance agent, he agreed that once a cars value gets down to <$10K, it's a toss up. He was surprised that a Honda would depreciate that much. I may have to reconsider.

When it comes to insurance I take my risk when I go to the track. When I'm on street, it's a no brainer, I want coverage...... I've seen how some other S2000 owners drive.
