Default Snow!

We're going to get snow tonight. I can't believe it. It's only November 12th.

Beside disbelieving, does it make you happy, sad, worried or what, Rob?

Sad I guess. I don't particularly like snow after about the first 15 or 20 minutes. I don't like winter in general. I hate being cold. Today was the kind of day that I hate worst of all. It was chilly (high 30s) and rainy. I find myself getting chilled to the bone on days like today.

The thing is I love living in the Northeast near New York City so I have to take the weather as it comes.

Rob, I hate winter. The older I get, the more I hate it. But I must admit that going through a winter makes me appreciate the coming spring and summer that much more. It's a feeling of revitalization. Without winter, I don't think I would get this feeling. Perhaps that's the way it was meant to be for some of us.

If it's any consolation to you, we've had snow come and go about 3 times now. We are now back into the Fall phase again. They tell us that we are likely to get a "brown" winter this time. I'm gonna wear my snow tires to a nub.

You are absolutely right. The change of seasons keeps things interesting. Still, I find the change from summer to fall and from fall to winter to be depressing.

Aside from the cold and the wet, we switch to standard time which means coming home after dark. I know its all in my head, but I have much less energy when I come home after dark. I wish we could keep daylight savings time all year long.

This morning, while Liz and I were having coffee, I looked out of our kitchen window at the trees. What just a few weeks ago were these lush, green trees are now bare grey branches. Depressing.

It happens every year. Winter sneaks up on me a catches me by surprise. By now I should be used to it but I suppose it will always come too soon for me.

Dave, I've never been able to figure out how you guys do it. We get snow, but you get SNOW. I don't think I'd be able to stand getting that much snow.

No snow here in the Champlain Valley, but only 11*. Killington Ski Center in Vt opened this past week with more to follow.

Ever thought of moving to Miami? It's a lot like NYC in some ways - for example, there are a lot of New Yorkers there.

Never thought of it before, but lately, especially on very cold snowy days, Liz and I think, "Maybe someday when the kids are out".

Well said. I feel the same way. Sunny for us again today but only in the 40's. No sight or mention of the white stuff into next week. 50's.
