I don't like the lack of trunk space. When I bought my S, I was considering an MR2. I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway, but the lack of trunk space elliminated it from consideration. You don't need a lot of trunk space in a sportscar, but you do need some. (As it is, I can't bring a pizza home in my S's trunk.)

That's one very large pizza!

WRT the lack of trunk space on the MR2, perhaps that's a big reason why they are no longer being made.

When I bought my S, I had to make sure that I could fit my golf clubs AND pull cart in the trunk. This is not a given for many sports cars out there. In my opinion the S give me the best of both worlds, a pure unapologetic sports car with a practical side.

Large pie, extra cheese. Peperonis on half. Can't lay it flat in my trunk.

We have finally found a pizza place that has the BEST pizza that I have ever had out side of NYC. (I grew up in Queens in an Italian neighborhood, an consider myself a "pizza snob")

With that said: Rob, that must be one H*ll of a pizza. I found that if I place mine in the trunk from the left and then kind of wedge it in under the spare tire it will stay level.

I'll have to try that. I haven't been able to keep it level. Its always a big disappointment to come home and find all of the extra cheese has slid off of the pie and onto the box.

I'll have to take some of the "stuff" out of my trunk before my next pizza run.

I let +1 hold the pizza on her lap. Room enough for a 12 pack on top to boot.

I applaud GM for joining the fray. Now the choice that people have is increased by two to join the Miata, the S, the BMW Z3/4, the Boxster, the Mercedes SLK... This is only the first year of a car that was rushed onto the market, with all the parts off the shelf. Let's hope that GM will improve the next version (still I don't think they can make a large pizza fit in on the level). I have read that the the turbo version is sport-tuned and fast. Lots of hpower AND torque. Maybe it is in our own interest to cautiously cut GM a break and have a close look at some of the new cars that are rolling off the line. Is it possible that Lutz can pull off a miracle...avant la d

I have yet to see a Solstice "in the flesh" but from the pictures it looks pretty good. The only thing that I dislike is the grille, but I really dislike the grille. It looks too much like a Pontiac, and that turns me off. I too think the Sky is the better looking car.
I agree. I like the looks of the car until I get to the grille, which just reminds me of an electric shaver. I think it's a bad idea to have a 'traditional' grille just for the sake of it.

I have the same problem with the new GTO, and adding hood scoops certainly didn't help matters.

Come on, GM, design a new grille! If the car's good enough, we'll all know it's a Pontiac (or whatever).
