I agree. I like the looks of the car until I get to the grille, which just reminds me of an electric shaver.

The Saturn Sky is definitely nicer looking and has a different grill. Not unlike the S.

^^^ Yeah, you're right - a much better front end.

I'm sure I'll be seeing them at the Philadelphia Auto Show on Sunday.

For GM's sake, I hope Solstice does well. What concerns me is the inclination of the dealers who are trying to get more for their car if they think there is a stronger demand. It would seem to me that they would want to give more discount so they can sell more but then who knows? They probably know what they are doing. I am sure it will take some time but hopefully Solstice is here to stay and join the market for that segment of sports/convertible cars.

[QUOTE=S1997,Jan 31 2006, 02:46 PM] I applaud GM for joining the fray. Now the choice that people have is increased by two to join the Miata, the S, the BMW Z3/4, the Boxster, the Mercedes SLK... This is only the first year of a car that was rushed onto the market, with all the parts off the shelf. Let's hope that GM will improve the next version (still I don't think they can make a large pizza fit in on the level). I have read that the the turbo version is sport-tuned and fast. Lots of hpower AND torque. Maybe it is in our own interest to cautiously cut GM a break and have a close look at some of the new cars that are rolling off the line. Is it possible that Lutz can pull off a miracle...avant la d

Maybe you need to buy the smaller size, Rob

Besides, there is no more pizza on the menu for those of us on the Legal Bill Waist Loss Program

I imagine that both the Solstice and the Sky will be successful for General Motors, but I wonder if the success of these two cars will make any difference to the company. Is the two seat sportcar market big enough to sell enough cars to make a difference? Is the presence of these cars in the dealers showrooms enough to sell the other cars?

I wonder why GM doesn't put the same amount of energy into designing a mid size or compact car that people want to buy in quantity. That would make a difference.

Just based on pure looks

Solstice

Sky

Way past time for Detroit to attempt to compete with the Miata but at least they are trying. I wish them luck!
