Have any recommendations where I can get one quick (and cheap!).
V1s aren't cheap, Carmen.

I think there've been some group buys on the board before (maybe it's time for another).

Also see if anyone's selling one on the board or ebay.

Beth - I guess the search function isn't working yet, but there was alot of discussion about radar in Mid-A, since so many of our members seem to have gotten tickets recently! But as I recall, the bottom line is you are probably going to be out of luck on the accuracy issue. Maybe better to pursue your good driving record in the hopes of getting the fine/points reduced. That is, if it is worth your time to go back to that small town to fight it. Good luck!

^What Chaz said. I don't think anyone's been successful getting a group buy from Valentine. They are the single source which leaves little room for negotiation.
Go here to order one.

Yeah, I knew they weren't cheap. $300 as I recall. It'll save me at least that. Thanks for the link Gene. I'll check it out.

Have been ticketed only once. That was for speeding in beautiful Ennis Texas. Was doing 75 in a 45 work zone on a Sunday with no workers around. I wonder if driving a bright red TransAm had anything to do with getting the ticket? I had a radar detector but was hit with the instant on after I passed the Trooper. Went for defered adjudication (nice option in Texas) so it would not appear on my license or be reported to insurance. Spent a day at the Comedy Club doing drivers ed. At least it was humorous (a comic who was certified by the state gave the class).

I think that they're $400. They are worth every penny. They're that good.

$440 with the remote display.

Let's see...how can Carmen justify this ridiculous purchase?
1) Savings on paying a guide for scenic tours of upstate NY: $50
2) Motel bills avoided: $100/night X 30 nights: $3000.
3) Rental income on his Ohio residence: $1500.
4) At least one ticket/trip @ $100 ea. Total of $600 so far?

Seems like a good deal to me!

You'd think $400 is cheap if you ever had to talk to a New Jersey State Trooper.
Go for it.
