I ended up going to REI and getting the Fenix PD35TAC today. I will test it out tonight.

Ummm it's bright! It will temporarily blind you if you're not careful The highest (tactical mode) setting is awesome, but you will lose your night vision when you use it. It also gets extremely warm on that setting as well.

Interesting that it gets extremely warm. Guess that I've never witnessed an uncomfortable heat buildup, but then I’ve never used my Fenix LD41 highest output mode (only 960 lumens) longer than two minutes. It does though have a “Hot” warning embossed near the lens.

I actually like the temporary blinding aspect. It be paranoia, but having that ability while out alone at night is a pretty good self defense option. A lot of vintage guys think they still have what it takes to protect themselves. Most of them are just kidding themselves.
