Tail of the Dragon Suggestions
Planning a drive with the S-2000 the third week of October from Memphis through East Tennessee planning 2 days to play on The Dragon, then tour the Cherola Skyway and Tellico Lake. I'd welcome any suggestions on lodging and place to see!

Nice and convenient place to stay for the Dragon is Fontana Village. Get a lodge room (make sure you ask for the Dragonslayer rate).
If you want cheap/cheap/cheap lodging.... Tuskeegee Motel, 2511 Fontana Road, Robbinsville, NC (828) 479-8464 - was like $55/night.... clean, but dated. Only about 7 miles farther down Rt 28 away from the Dragon.
From Fontana to the Dragon, you get to drive Hellbender (Rt 28) which is one of my favorite roads in the area. Higher speed than the Dragon.
When you do the Cherohala Skyway... make sure you hit Bald River Falls just outside of Tellico Plains on the Skyway.

If you want to splurge, I can highly recommend a B & B in nearby Robbinsville, NC, The Blue Waters Mountain Lodge
We stayed there several years ago, and the hosts are absolutely charming!
