I hope you and Barbara will be there. Elaine and I are planning on it.

Air and Space Museum Sunday then a hotel near Ronald Reagan Airport Sunday night. Monday taking the Subway into the city for Touristy stuff
Umm, that would be, "Air and Space Sunday, a hotel in Crystal CIty near National for Sunday night, Blue line to Federal Triangle on Monday after 9:00am so we don't have to pay rush hour fees." (There are a number of hotels near National in Crystal City, all within a 10 minute taxi ride (almost impossible to walk to National) to the airport. There are a number of good restaurants on 23rd Street in Crystal City or you can drive down Rt 1 to Alexandria and find some seriously good places to eat. (ask me and I'll be happy to recommend almost any kind of restaurant you want with the exception of chains of any kind). BTW, if you use a paper farecard there is an additional $1 charge on top of the fare. It's almost worthwhile to buy a Smartcard but if you go to www.wmata.com you can plan your trip and it will tell you the fares for the Metro... oh, and be careful, there has been an uptick lately of people snatching electronics from riders, but Metro is probably one of the safest systems in the world.
Thanks looks like the Hampton Inn is our choice for Sunday night. They have a shuttle to the Metro and I survived riding the Paris Metro

May I suggest that you check out both of the Air & Space Museums web sites? This link is for the museum in DC with the Moon Rocks, etc. But a lot of the cool stuff (Space shuttle, Concorde, etc. is at the Annex at Dulles Airport in VA Here is the link to that site. Here is the LINK to the IMAX movies that show at the DC location. The movie "To Fly" is an IMAX classic that has been playing since 4 July 1976. If you go to see any of these movies do try to get in line early so that you can sit as close to dead center in the theater as possible (both vertically and horizontally) to get the best effect. Shorty after they started showing "To Fly" they learned that they needed to keep the lights dimly lit in the theater (to give people some reference points) because people were actually getting motion sickness because of how the movie was shot. When I took my Mother there in 1980 she swore (to this day) that the seats were moving?

Lainey,

The first couple of things that popped into my head where:

The Luray Caverns. The drive to Luray from the east side of Sky Line Drive to the west side to Luray on RT211 is FUN!

The Natural Bridge is also near by. That would also put you very close to Foamhenge"

May I also suggest that you check out the Roadside America website to search for stuff that may be of interest to you and Rick? If you have a smart phone you can down load their "App".

I hope that you both find this info helpful?

Thanks, Matt.

We hit some of those places on our VA trip in '07. However not, all of them. I just graduated to a smart phone, so I'll check out the app. Thanks!!!

The Paris Metro is a piece of cake (along with the TGV, the best way to get around in Paris).

Very true but remind me to tell you the story of the pick pockets and the elderly man they targeted and the injuries they sustained

Ken do they still have the "all you can eat" fare option? That was my favorite from when we were down there because it was one flat fee and you could ride all day.

I have a ton of the smart cards so if I remember I will throw 2 of them in the car. Who knows they may even have some cash left on them
