Time for a change
I accept the nomination on Jim's behalf.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
I think Jim would make a very fine CO and has the maturity, level-headeness and balance needed for the job. Thanks for volunteering, Jim.
PS: I also think Val would make a fine CO as well but that's another story.

ATTENTION PEOPLE OF VINTAGE
I have the name of a member for your consideration as your next co-CO. His name is:
S1997
But we can call him Jim. Jim has stepped up and expressed a willingness to be your next co-CO. As most of you know, Jim has demonstrated a nearly unparalleled level of commitment to our community. He drives to our big meets from his home in Texas. He is an active and thoughtful participant on this board. He knows how to play, and he knows how to be serious.
I support Jim's candidacy. I think he will make a fine CO and I am pleased that he will add regional diversity to our leadership. I leave it to Jim to tell you more about himself and his interest in the position.
There remains other issues to be resolved. Not the least of these is how to deal withthe Politics sub-forum going forward. I have received PMs with some suggestions. The opinions I have received by PM are as diverse as the opinions on this board. Let us keep the discussion going in a civil way and see where this takes us.
Leaving the fanfare aside, if any others are interested in the position let me know.

Jim would be a very good choice.
This thread now appears to be a "two fold thread". We're looking for nominations for the next CO of Vintage, and we've also been discussing where Vintage is going.
I've just thrown my support behind Jim as the next CO. As I said, he'd make a good one, and I know I'd enjoy working with him.
As far as where we are going here........Vintage has been around a few years now. Members come and members go. I think the thread topics reflect that. We all have different interests and we all have our own reasons as to why we come here. There is room for threads covering many subjects. If you don't like what you see, throw something else out there. It may be a popular thread, or maybe it won't. You can't take that personally, as we never know which way a thread will go, but keep trying.
As far as politics. I do not have what it takes to monitor political threads, nor do I want to spend my time trying. That's just the way it is. If the political sub-forum continues, that is fine with me. If the new CO does not want to monitor political theads, and no one wants to step up to do so, then the sub forum will be no more and the political topics will be found in the main political forum.
I have no problem with NON political current events being discussed here. They will be moved if I or my co-Co feels the topic is political in nature.
I just thought it was time that I let you all know where I stand on the various things being discussed here.

Thanks for those kind words Wil. I'm afraid I have lost my temper and been unkind more than once on this web site. I always regret those episodes. Thanks for looking past them and favoring me with that fine tribute.

I personally have been touched by your demeanor and will use you as a model for my behavior in the future.
Sorry, couldn't resist again.
Thanks for the thought but I need my freedom to practice my a**holiness with impunity.
At this point in the conversation, I think it is important for Jim to wade in and tell us his views on the Politics sub forum. I have sent him PMs and posted in threads where he recently was active to tell him to come over to this thread and post. Maybe he is busy with other stuff right now. Let's give him some time to get over here and give us his thoughts.
As one of the newer members here, I feel that voting one way or the other would be much like pulling a party ticket lever in the booth without regard to the individuals listed there. I agree with Will that politics and religion are both volatile subjects, and I have looked in on the political sub forum only a couple of times. That said, whether those discussions remain in a seperate area or are discussed here in a respectful manner, I believe I will continue to enjoy the wisdom and comradarie shared among this group.
I also want to express a big thank you to those of you who have made this forum what it is today, both through your participation and/or your leadership. I look forward to future opportunities to meet and get to know you better.
