tips, tricks, and words-of-caution II: Vintage Version
some of you might have seen the thread I started a while back called \"tips, tricks, and words-of-caution\", which has the honor of being included amongst other excellent advice in FAQs of S2000 Talk and Other Useful INFO (the sticky thread at the top of S2000 Talk).
Rob (Ralper) recently sent me a PM about that thread and suggesting some of the excellent, but perhaps untapped knowledge of some of our vintage members, so I present to you...
tips, tricks, and words-of-caution II: Vintage Version. Observations from a Few Miles Down the Road
in the spirit of the original, this thread is for owners to post the little tips-n-tricks that they've found for when they're just driving the S2000. not maintenance tips, or racing tips, or anything like that-- just daily driving tips.
so please post some of the little things our Vintage members have discovered that make the driving experience that much more enjoyable. likewise those of you who haven't seen the original thread, you might find some useful info-- feel free to click the hyperlink above. (also some excellent stuff in the FAQs thread, so I hyperlinked that as well.)
(thanks for the suggestion Ralper.

Tip number one, and perhaps the most basic of all.
Always check your oil when you get gas. If you get into this habit, you will never be more than 200 to 250 miles away from checking your oil.
It is also a good idea to check you tire pressure at least once a month. I use a four column pad and designate one column for each tire. I mark down the date and pressure of each tire in that tire's column. By doing this, over time I can see if one tire is losing air faster than the others.

If you track your fuel consumption and miles per gallon on a spreadsheet, put in an extra column to keep track of the gas station/vendor that you bought the gas from. If over time you notice that your miles per gallon is lower at one particular station or your fuel consumption is higher, avoid that station. This is an indication that this vendor needs to have his pumps recalibrated.
Any one tankful is meaningless, but if you spot a trend over time, the chances are that vendor is trying to take advantage of his customers.
