OK, here's what I've got:
We can have a buffet dinner at the Microtel across the parking lot. 2 kinds of chicken, veggies, etc. with servers, room charge, tax & tip, plus an off-duty cop (required only if we want to BYO alcohol) would be about $30 each, depending on the final number (some fixed charges, so the more people, the lower the per-person). I've included in this paying for Hilly and Crystal's dinner, assuming everyone agrees. They have emailed me that they plan on being there.
Add to that the usual $5 or so for magnets or whatever, some provided desserts/munchies for the evening.
We could just eat there (no alcohol), then move the celebrations to the Hampton, saving the approx $120 for the off-duty cop. Either way, they ask us to be out of the dinner hall by 8:30, which is normally not a problem - we generally move the party by then anyway.
Thoughts?

I think Matt has a good idea. I think $120.00 for someone to watch us, or watch out for us, could be better spent.

Man - I get plenty of opinions AFTER the event. Only a few have comments before it.
Sorry for the delay - this spring has my head spinning. Just got back from a weekend in Boston with the choir. Nothing much planned any more weekends until the Tomcatt itself. Phew....
I'll have more info on the various plans as I get them finalized.

I think Matt's suggestion is the way that we will go.
Just to forewarn you all, though - it appears that the dinner entrées will be limited to 2 types of chicken (grilled, and in some sort of cream sauce). Adding a third option (pork loin or ribs) puts the price (with tax & tip) up to a ridiculous level, especially given that we only have 27 people signed up so far.
However, I'll see if I can talk them into being more flexible once I can talk to them in person - that often works better for these kind of things.
