Did someone say marine aquaria? Pics please.
What are you using for filtration and lighting equipment on your coral tank(s)? And what species do you have?
Dean,

Be happy to post up some more pics once I take some :-) Just recently got a digital camera that is capable of doing justice to the tanks.

I use Amiracle wet/dry filters with PolyFilter pads and bioballs for startup, later, I switch to plain sponge pads and only run chemical adsorbers as required. I run various size AquaC skimmers depending on the tank size; I've got everything from Remora hang-ons through Urchin Pro in-sumps to EV-180 externals on my 120s. I'll use a Fluval cannister temporarily if I need to run some reef carbon or RowaPhos or other chemical media.

For lighting I have gone with Current USA metal halides - big tanks use the Outer Orbit Extreme (or some such name) with 2x 150watt 10k halides and 2x130 Power Compact actinics. Smaller tanks I use the Sunpod, 2x150watt 14k halides. Both fixtures have several built-in LED moonlights. I use Digital Auqatics ReefKeeper (and now ReefKeeper II) controllers on all my tanks.

Currently, I'm working on propogating Pulsing Xenia; I'm really just starting to get into corals now that I have lights to support them. Next will be a big colony of Anthelia for my newer 120, ready for pickup at my Local Fish Store...

Here are a few pics of the upstairs tanks, Goldfish on left, salt on the right both 58 gals....

Dean,

Cool! Yeah I know about all the work - my first 120 gal tank turned 2 years old on Labor day, and my 70 and 58 gal tanks are replacements for 25 and 30 gallon tanks with PC lighting and cannister filters. Talk about some work! I'll never run another salt water tank less than 55 gals, without a sump, and without an oversized skimmer, and metal halides are key.

I've got an RO/DI machine that produces 120 GPD of water, and lots of 50 gal rubbermaid barrels for mixing saltwater, heck I can almost do that in my sleep these days!

I wonder if it would be the same if I just put a big glass tank in my living room and threw money into it?

Thats beautiful! I love aquariums. I have a 210 in wall between my living room and and bedroom. It was originally a predator tank, ALL the inhabitants are still alive, and I am slowly trying my hand and patience at corals.

Checkout this site...reefcentral.com.

You will love it.

Thanks, Erick - I'm a member at Reef Central. You might want to check out wetwebmedia.com also, if you haven't already.

I'd love to try a predator tank some day!
