For some of us Vintage folks that spend alot of time complaining about how hard is it to get in and out of you S here's your answer!!

The only thing I have a problem with it is how safe is the car from a side impact?

It is a neat concept. I am sure in due time, they will come up with ways to make it safe from side impact. Ingenious!

I'm not so sure this is any less safe than the current doors. When in place, there may be side anchor points that are engaged, just like the current hinges and door latch. There's no reason that the doors themselves would not have the horizontal structural ridgidity required.

All speculation anyway - I doubt I'll be either able to afford a conversion, or that we'll be seeing this in production cars anytime soon. One can hope, though.

If you think about the rails and motors it must take to make this happen, it's hard to see how they could be fit under the S.

Now, our Outback, on the other hand...
