The woman in that last pic, is that the "older blonde woman" ? Looks pre-vintage to me.

This is a great thread and I have really enjoyed reading about the vacations and all the great photos. My wife and I are going back to Costa Rica on Tuesday for 10 days and will definately enjoy the cooler weather than the 90's we have been having here in Texas. But as they say, it's a dry heat.

We were last in Costa Rica a few years back and here are some of the pictures we made.

This is of Aranal Volcano and the Aranal hotel where we stayed for a few days. It was amazing to be near an active volcano and to hear and feel the rumbling and to see the little belches it does all day and all night. It shoots out school bus to house sized globs of lava that tumble down the side. You can get as close as you are brave enough to. They have warning signs up but not enforced by any officials.

This is of my wife and I coming down from rapelling (sp) through the rain forset canopy.

Not sure what we will do this time, just going to wing it and enjoy the laid back country. Will be staying with some close friends that live there a few miles outside of San Jose up in the mountains.

Marc

All those great places - Alaska, Rain Forest, etc. - but for me, sometimes simple is better.

We leave Saturday for our annual week away from it all. Nothing to do but small mouth bass fishing on a 340 acres of lake, which we will have almost entirely to ourselves, in my 12' 7.5 hp fishing boat. We stay in a tiny cottage that's walking distance from the town's grocery & party store. We are within an hour of Traverse City, MI (a neat place before the fudgies arrive), so the wife doesn't have cook dinner. We have been going here for 20+ years and this will be the first time ever without any kids. . . . if we can't play cards in the evening - - what will we do?
