A rare Honda find. Admittedly it’s not an S2000 but it kinda’ makes one think about a classic Honda’s value. See the sales info HERE. A 356c Porsche with the same quality and era would sell for ~100k more.

I don't know. I think its very possible that our kids and our grandchildren might think as highly of an S2000 in the future as we think of the 356c today.

Cars are best left for fun. Investing is best left in the stock market.

Yep, I would strongly agree with you, Dave. I myself don't really have much interest in watching the S2000 prices fluctuate. But I venture that the little beast has already cost most (maybe not all) of us owners more money to purchase than we would ever recover from selling it. And that's okay! The collector cars that the affluent car guys buy and sell are normally not drivers. They are mostly interested in preserving their low tach numbers - and avoiding accidents.

(BTW, I replaced some broken SC parts on my S with upgraded replacements, so it's running strong again. Kraftwerks were very good about warranting the parts. I will drive the car to California in a couple of months. It's a keeper.}

Well, I just checked my spread sheet (that I keep on each one of our vehicles) and so far (not including gasoline, Personal Property Tax which one pays in Virginia every year based on it's value, or the cost to insure it) It has cost us $25,094.70* (based on the current Blue Book value) to own since 15 April of 2003. This includes tires, and all maintenance costs (Which I do myself, with the exception of the valve adjustment, plug change, and going over by Bill Man250 at 99600 miles. Have I (we) gotten $2091.23 dollars worth of enjoyment per year over that time period? If one compares that to our cable TV / ISP that cost us $1806.60 per year I would say so. I have to state, that in the dollar per hour ratio I get more enjoyment out of driving our S than I do watching most TV shows. Very few of them, ever put a smile on my face, driving the S does. Past that. If we had never purchased an S2000, we would have never met all the wonderful people that we have over the last twelve years. I (we) would not have the fond memories of going to the meets (both S2Ki and S2KCA), and in my world, one can NOT put a dollar figure on that.

Thank you to all that have contributed to the ownership experience.

* Bear in mind that I have over 135K miles on my S as I type this.

Jim, It is a keeper. I walk by my old one every day - including today - when I walk the dog. Thank goodness, I have my old stand-by to keep me happy.

I have browsed the s2ki for-sale posts from time to time and my impression is that prices for nice S2000s have been on the rise over the past year with unmolested low mileage examples leading the way. I paid around $16K for an 03 with about 40,000 miles on it in the spring of 2007. There is currently listed a nearly identical car but with 22,000 MORE miles for $16,500.
