I voted early yesterday, and it took more than 6 and a half hours. On Wednesday, I found out I have to be in Houston on Monday, so I voted early. I arrived at the early voting polling place at about 9:15 yesterday morning, and I left the polling place at 4:00. I was ticket number 322, and when I left, I heard people saying that they had ticket numbers in the 1000's.

The Maricopa County (Phoenix) election officials anticipated a heavy turnout and prepared for it, but they said yesterday that the turnout was much heavier than anticipated.

Be prepared for long waits at your polling place on Tuesday if you haven't voted early.

I got lucky and found a lull, but they said waits were usually about 2 hours when I voted.

You guys on the left coast don't even need to bother, you know the media will call it before you ever get a chance to get in line.

There are still plenty of other things on the ballot.

You don't really even need to wait until Tuesday. You can probably call it now.

You should vote anyway.

I'll arrive at the polls at about 7:45 AM on 11/4 and expect to leave at about 8 AM. The poll workers in my suburban district do a great job. If you're an early riser, they are all set up and just waiting until it is legal to let the first voter in.

When I voted in a Columbus (OH) precinct their idea of opening the polls at 6 AM was that one machine worked at 6 AM and they were starting up the others.

John - Did they have portable potties??? I plan to be at the polling station at 5:30 am, so I hope that's early enough. Ours is a small one, so maybe not so bad. Polls open at 6 am.
