Charlie

Comparing WW II to Iraq is just plain wrong. There is absolutely nothing to compare.

You are wrong.

Brant respectfully I understand exactly were you and yours are coming from. You are a pacifist like many here, nothing wrong with that but I'm glad your not in charge of our country.

hope your enjoying your stay in Philly, been to Tony Lukes yet?
Me? A pacifist? That is actually one of the more ignorant things you've posted in quite a while, Charlie. I'm not a pacifist by any stretch, I'm just not a proponent of letting ignorance guide foreign policy.

The military is a valuable tool...and one that needs to be used decisively when it is implemented. However, part of that is making sure to understand the threat and to give the military every resource they need to get the job done right.

I was not comparing the war in Iraq to WWII. I was comparing military strategy though. After all this is what the thread is about the plan we implemented then and now. Also how the media decides to cover it.

Chaz your use of Jesus in your reply demonstrates the hypocrasy of the times we live in. I said it before and I'll say it again "Christianity is fair game in America today". If I were a muslim or any other minority I think you would choose your words more carefully as not to offend me or my beliefs. IMO of course.

Charlie, you're joking right? I can't tell with you.

In my day, "Jesus Christ" was an expression of extreme disbelief / shock. Perhaps people don't say that anymore -- I think they do around here, but maybe not down your way. This expression has nothing to do with hypocrasy of today (I presume you're joking); if anything it's a dated old expression -- I should've said something like "Dayyyyum," or some such modern nonsense. Did you really think I was slighting your religion? I just couldn't believe what you were saying, Charlie.

OK, perhaps you can compare strategies between WWII and Iraq, but that's about it. There's little point in arguing with you when you feel that the US invasion of Iraq was justified for similar reasons to our engagement into WWII.

I'm done with this discussion for today...

Chaz am I joking? yes and no. I know that you meant no harm and I was not offended by your JC use. What I do find curious is how the pc police have just about made every other "old expression" as you refer to it taboo and deemed offensive to some group... with exception to Chrisitans and esp. white Christians who live in the south, "we" IMO are fair game unfortunately.

Without expressing any value judgements about anything anyone has said, I am wondering how it happened that this became the topic of this thread.

not the first time a thread has gone astray, I like to stay on topic as much as the next guy but it gets personal sometimes and I stand up for what I think is right and using Jesus Christ in that way is .. in your words "wrong".
