Default What vintage car would you bring back?

What do y'all think of the 2005 Mustang? Good, bad, indifferent?

Seeing the new Mustang made me wonder what "vintage" cars people would love to bring back and keep faithful to their original design. My dad swears he'd buy one if Chevy would re-release the original Impala (not sure which year) and not change the looks. Are there any classic muscle cars you'd trade your S for if they would re-release them without mucking up the design?

I might trade for a '56 or '57 Thunderbird...

Updated with todays technology I would take a new Avanti in a heart beat. Second choice would be a Sunbeam Alpine Tiger. Take out the 4.2 L V8 and give me a small hemi.

Fun to imagine these cars with today's innards: Avanti, E - Jag, MGA, MG -TF, '67 Vette conv., '55-56 'Bird, A-H 3000.

1952 MG-TD, British Racing Green, Right Hand Drive.

Put me down for one, but I wouldn't trade my S for it.

In the 90s there was a magazine ad for a 1937 BMW 328 reproduction with 1974 2002tii chassis, motor and running gear. The picture showed a beautiful silver roadster with the still-elongated vertical double kidney grill. I don't know who was making them. I didn't investigate then, but I'd buy one now ...

Aside from all the million dollar British & Italian sports cars out of the 60s, the first one that comes to mind is the little known and longer forgotten AC Aceca Coupe, a 1960 model would be a nice side kick for my MGA.

Here's a link http://www.seriouswheels.com/AC-Aceca-Coupe.htm

I've only seen one in the US and it was owned by a fellow in Grand Rapids, MI who owned a British Car dealership and brought it back from England.

A guy in New England has one in Black Dave. I used to see him once a year at British Car Day at the Anderson Museum of Transportation. I mus admit, the car was beautiful. The AC design studio was an amazing place that gets very little recognition from the enthusiast community.

But this thread brings up another point. A great number of the old sports racers of the 60s are now available as Kit Cars and sold as do-it-yourself projects or turn-key-less motor cars depending on what you want to spend. You can live the dream with cars that are very faithful to the originals, with upgraded, modern everything. I'm always threatening to build one of these great kits. Pick up a copy of Kit Car Magazine and see for yourself
