I would load up my Hummer (if I had one) with guns (if I had any) and gasoline and a laptop and I'm set.

Oh yes, my +1 would probably want to go too, and take our kids and granddaughter, dogs and cats, houseplants, 25 pairs of shoes and who knows what else.
I do! I do!

By coincidence, our local paper ran a column yesterday:
Preparing for disaster: If you had to evacuate your home in 30 minutes, what would you take?

You may need to sign in to read it, if so, use the following:
user: sjmerc@ury.com
password: 123456

My only problem with "keep all important documents/valuables in one box that is marked on all sides and can be easily accessed" is that if there is a break-in, the thief will also be able to walk off with all the important stuff easily. Just can't win.

Paranoid.

I'd take the family, med records for the kids, cd's of pictures, extra fuel, take out cash, cell phone, some military gear I have and not look back.

The choice of vehicle would be determined by the potential danger. Localized problem would have us taking the truck. A larger scale occurrence would have us taking the most fuel efficient four-door we have.
