Wow this is the first I’ve heard of Whitey getting clipped. Talk about karma. I used to listen to Howie Carr who was a reporter that whitey had threatened and as told on 60 minutes one of whiteys henchman had attempted to kill howie by throwing a basketball full of explosives at him. The book brothers Bulger explains all about whiteys exploits not a nice guy.

He worked with a dirty fed, he ratted on competing gangs and he solved any issue with killing or attempting to kill whomever he wished. No telling how long the list of enemies was on him. Coulda been an inmate, coulda been a prison official ! You gotta really want to kill someone to do it when they are 89 with poor health. That is "I am not giving him the satisfaction of dying on his own" anger right there!
