Dave,

Sorry to learn of this. As the others have stated: Attitude and a support system is very important. Only time will tell as to the outcome. Please pass along that the S2K community is pulling for him.

Sorry for your friends shocking news, Dave. I can't imagine hearing those words. But thousands hear them every year.

Well, I spent some time tonight with his daughter. And, he's going for his 2nd round of chemo next week. Honestly, I doubt anyone thinks he will see Halloween. I'm going out of state next week but my mission when we get back is to drag his ass to a local bar with his life long friends.! Right or wrong.

If he can enjoy the time it's the right thing to do. I hope he can.

I just sent an E-mail to Dave with an offer to send a check to him to buy a round for him and his friend. I however, did set a stipulation that $50 was not an option. ;-)

We had a friend who was diagnosed with ALS. 57 years old. Every year he and his buddies spend a week at a mountain lodge and drink, hike, eat and enjoy life. He attended and his friends were so glad he did. It was emotional but the drinking and camaraderie loosened things up. He died 6 months later and his friends who attended the funeral said they gave him a raucous send off. Absolutely agree Dave.

I got shit on a little yesterday but it was nothing compared to this. Crashed on a cycling ride and was knocked unconscious. I came to in the hospital. No broken bones but lots of road rash, sore ribs and bruises. And my head hurt. Cat scan and MRI revealed no damage to brain or ribs. I was lucky. The ER Doc said the helmet saved my life. My helmet was expensive and had the new MIPS (Multiple Impact Resistant System) inner cage in it. The helmet was cracked and will need to be replaced. Cant replace my head. NEVER ride a bike without a helmet!

Wearing that helmet saved you. I'm sure TX Jim can relate. I knew a guy some years ago who was an avid cyclist. I guess he still is. He fell and broke his collarbone, which was very painful for awhile. Hope you recover soon.
