No cracks can be fixed. I have about a 20" crack on the windshield of my Accord that started out as a rock chip.
I worked for an autoglass company. cracks CAN be repaired. It might not look good as new, but it is possibile to prevent a crack from further spreading.

If you knew, or thought you knew, why did you ask? Like everyone else said, you can't safely repair a crack that large.
when i looked up windshield repair, i found 3-4 businesses that said all they do is fix windshields with cracks.
like someone already mentioned, safelite is one of them.
i figured, before i replace, why not find out if i have to replace the entire windshield?

Well...for one, you drive an s2000, so you do have some money. Also, glass coverage is $20 a year (from Geico anyway) and is NOT part of the deductable. Why would you want to drive around a nice car with a 6" crack on your windshield? Also, to repair it, its $150 bucks, where as replacing it is $300. I honestly dont see the point. However, its your car, do as you see fit.
and the quotes i have been getting for windshield were not $300 but more like $400
another thing is, i hear that some of these companies replace the windshield with non oem windshields, therefore they arent as nice.
so once again, based on the information that i found, i was curious.
thats why i posted on here.
to get some further opinions.

At safelite they will attempt to repair the crack. if it continues to spread they will put the money you spent to repair the crack towards a new windsheild.
so why not give it a try.. it might save you 400 bucks.
btw, i hate safelite.. the call center is a hell hole.

that sounds fair to me
does safelite use oem windshields?
I got a rockchip in my windshield and called up a chip repair place that we do printing work for and the guy there told me that once a chip cracks, they are not EASILY repairable (this is a mobile repair company). Once they get longer than 6" it is not worth trying because there is a very good chance that they will break the glass worse by attempting the repair.
If you ever get a rock chip, you should get it filled ASAP. All it takes is a jolt or a cold night with moisture in the chip and your window is toast.
I also heard that many insurance companies will waive the deductible for a chip/minor crack repair, but will not for a full replacement due to it breaking the original seal of the glass.
So if the crack can be repaired, it is possible that it could be done free by your ins. company. Mine was $60 and insurance covered it at no cost to me whatsoever.
Safelite sounds decent if they put the cost of a botched repair towards the new glass. The place I went through, and my insurance both said if the repair failed, then they were not liable.

what up mang,
I actually tried out one of those places that can 'repair' these crack. it's not a complete fix, but i guess it's getting the job done. they fill the cracks with some resin fill and holds it in place until it dries. the crack you see will probably be along the lines of a hairline crack, very minimal, but still somewhat visible. i had it repaired about 2 months ago, and so far no problems or further cracking. most places do give you a warranty period in the case it does continue to crack though. my 0.02 cents.
if you're looking into replacing the window instead, shouldn't cost you more than $300 though.
