Default adhesive remover for paint?

I took my windshield tape off...the paint underneath is looks perfect. But I did leave a lot of thin adhesive residue almost through the topside of the frame..its hard to notice untill you put your finger over and you can feel it kinda sticky.

So what adhesive remover can I get locally that is safe on paint? Goo gone?

I use goof-off. You can get it at the local hardware store. It takes the wax off too so, re-wax when you're done. I've used it to remove factory stickers too.

It takes a lot of goo-gone and fingernail work to get it completely off. If you're anal about cleanliness, you might want to flip up the rubber part. You might find a whole mess of adhesive there like I did.

WD-40 works great for me in removing adhesive residue. Saturate a corner of a rag with some, then apply to the affected area for a mniutue or two, and use a clean corner of the rag to remove the softened residue. Works fine on paint and does not damage the clear coat, AFAIK

you can use gasoline or diesel, it won't damage your paint if you use it only once.

i wouldnt do this. there are plenty of cleaners out there that will help you do this job. no need to put fuel on your paint. ive heard of WD-40 working (as mentioned) and the auto parts store should have a mass amount of products to help you out.

WD40, Goo-Gone, or my personal favorite ( a trick I learned in the jewelry biz) lighter fluid.

3M adhesive remover is a miraculous product. I'd search for a place that sells in your area.
