bird crap on my soft top
yes, it contains acid and can etch the top...
1. get it off as quickly as possible- washing is best, but anything else is a good second choice (damp towel for example)
2. as soon as you can wash it, be sure to put a good protectant on it
for the future (espcially if you have to park outside without a cover), you might want a product like this one (i think it was made for boats, but works on cars too):

by the way, not as important on the top as on the paint- but be careful when removing bird droppings cause sometimes birds eat sand or gravel- rubbing a bird dropping on your paint needs to be done very carefully!!

freaking birds. so washing it off and applying some 303 to the top should do the job?
let us know how it goes- (it all depends on the type of bird and what it has eaten recently!)
well i bought some 303 convertible top cleaner, and 303 vinyl protectant. took it to the carwash, sprayed the top with the cleaner and blasted it with the hose. looks much better now. haven't had a chance to apply the protectant yet but when i get the chance i'll post whether i see any noticeable darkness to the top afterwards.
