Caked In Bird Droppings :(
I'm getting my hair cut and no sooner than an hour I find three droppings on the black paint. I quickly stop at a local gas station where I wet a towel and gently go over the spotted area. The droppings were quickly picked up BUT now I see a thin white layer of blotch on it. I went back home and washed the affected area, then with Meguire's cleaner wax and went to work. I rubbed the wax off but the blotch was still there. The blotch looked like it ate through the clear coat because if you look at it from up top you can't see it but from an angle, you can and it's so faint that I can't take a pic of it to show you. How do you handle droppings???
first of all... i hope you didn't use a paper towel from the gas station because paper comes from trees = scratches
i always keep quick detailer and microfiber towels in the trunk to handle bird droppings
i've had droppings on the car over night that haven't etched the clear coat... but from your description it sounds like it may have. i would try to clay bar the area just to remove any contaminants and see if that helps. if not your only solution would be to polish that area.

it sounds like you have an "etching"...
bird droppings can be very acidic and they can actually destroy (eat or etch) clear coat.
if you can "catch an edge" with your fingernail, you have serious etching and nothing will fix it. it can be made better by taking down the ridges (edges), but can not be fixed without re-clearing. the ridges are taken down by polish.
i am hoping that you dont have etching- best way to find out is to try a vinegar rub. since you have stubborn spots, i would just go full strength vinegar. soak some on a rag and blot onto one spot. let it sit a coula minutes and then try to rub it out. dry it well. i usually use a quick detailer at this point. dry it off. if you are lucky it will be gone. you then need to rewash and then wax the car.
tekstar has the solution for prevention, which really is the key to avoiding etching.
btw, etching is usually from leaving the bird stuff on the car... since you got it off quickly, you might just need clay or polish. if its etched, as i said, you are sol. if its not, then you have a chance of getting back to new.
let us know whether you can catch an edge.
