Correct me if I'm wrong, but is'nt the one from Honda,a dust cover only, for inside use???
it is, but if youre using a waterproof cover OVER it, its ok. the honda cover will prevent the paint from getting scratched (as long as the car is spotless clean). then you cover it with a heavy duty waterproof cover for storage outside in the elements.

Damn ....... Took me an hour to find the literature that came with the Honda cover. Anyway they say: "Your new cover will help minimize deterioration of paint and upholstery of your vehicle by shielding it from the ultra-violet rays of the sun....... It is made from a breathable fabric and will not trap moisture which can cause damage to the paint."

From that I gathered that it was OK to use outside and as I said my original post I've been using it outside [with no additional protection] for 1-1/2 years in rain, snow, sleet and hail with no problems.

The salesman who sold me the car and the cover also said [and I am well aware that "salesmen" can't always be trusted] that it was OK for outside use.

I'm also an advocate of using "breathable" covers.

I've used the Honda "dust cover" outside since I got my car in Dec. '03. Granted, I live in San Diego, where if we get 1/4 inch of rain we're all like "holy crap, did you hear that storm last night?"

It's done well by me. If it gets wet (and it's often damp in parts in the morning from the coastal dew) I just put it back on the car when I get to work (parking garage) to dry out. I've even left it wet in the trunk for over 2 days when we had a "storm". When the sun eventually came back out, I just put it back on the car to dry.

Now, if I know it's gonna rain, I just leave it in the trunk and let the car get rained on.

On those days that I forget to put it on, I'll come out in the morning and there will be cat footprints all over my car.
