how do you restor a carbon fiber hood that has faded??

have it recleared or try to buff it out and/or wet sand..... depending on hwo bad it is

awsome how much does this process usually cost if all done through a shop?

depends on where you are and whether the original hood was clearcoated or not (it should have been... but if it was i dont think it should have faded)

best way to get your answer is to take it to a high quality body shop (one that does high end cars)- and get an estimate. they will know what the paint and clear situation is just by looking.

Just my 2 Cents, but I remember hearing that carbon fiber hoods don't use a "clearcoat" in the traditional sense. It's not clear paint, but a layer of epoxy that is brushed into the mold before the CF is laid in. I would imagine that would be a problem if you had a clearcoat painted on at the body shop. It's entirely possible that the clear coat would not adhere to the epoxy.
